About Us

The TREE DOCTORS started in 1989 by Michael Martorana with a love of plants and a volunteer spirit.  Longwood Gardens accepted him as the first volunteer in Longwood's Integrated Pest Management department. 
During his 8 years of work and study, he was awarded the "Certificate of Merit in Ornamental Plants".  From there, he earned his ISA (International Society of Arboriculture) Certified Arborist designation.

As demand for experts in tree health & diagnostics grew, an education through Penn State, the University of Delaware and Cornell provided the extensive knowledge needed to provide cutting edge diagnostic and treatment skills. 
Michael also served the Borough of Parkesburg on the Planning Commission and as VP of Borough Council, earning a Master Planner's Certificate and while serving, created an extensive Shade Tree Ordinance.  
Michael has a wealth of knowledge and experience in
bringing out the best in your plants!

The Tree Doctors employ highly skilled professional Arborists and Plant Health Care Technicians, not poorly trained seasonal workers, so no job is too big, too small or too complex.  We have a large assortment of professional equipment, including highly specialized tools for complicated tree or root surgery as well as a diagnostic lab.
